Week 3: Sites/Facilities, MEP & Surveying at KCI

Updated: Aug 4, 2020

KCI has a diverse group of engineers and technicians who work together on projects. Utilizing your strengths and working with others to improve your weaknesses is the type of teamwork displayed at KCI.

Surveying is Critical

Surveying is at the foundation of many of the projects at KCI. It plays an important role in land development from the first phases of planning and designing through the final construction of roads, utilities and landscaping (Ayemba, 2017). Surveyors are often the first on a construction site and the last to leave. Tying trigonometry with technology, there is a need for this 'backbone' of civil engineering. In the field and in the office, surveyors use technology such as 3D scanners, drones and LiDAR to provide all of the necessary information to the engineers, architects and developers. The Road to 5G

In this pandemic, it is important to have internet access for all. From students to professionals and hospitals to public safety, having access to internet has been critical to maintaining productivity. KCI has been instrumental in the efforts to bring 5G to homes and businesses across Maryland.

Did you know that 70% of the world's internet traffic goes through Loudon County, Virginia everyday? Loudon County processes 2.2 million terabytes of data everyday!
